The Bidding War | Empire season 3
When Lucious and Andre went to Nessa’s neighborhood, they had hopes of getting her to sign a contract with them. But when the pair arrives, Shine won’t sign the contract, revealing that he has all of Empire’s competitors in the studio getting ready for a bidding war. And based on the exchange of looks between Nessa and Andre, he won’t have to compete to get Nessa’s attention outside of the studio, which will help him get over Rhonda.
Back at Empire, Lucious is angry that Becky and Cookie didn’t close the Nessa deal earlier. While Cookie promises to deliver a revenge song from Tiana, she is distracted by her social life when Angelo sends three little kids to sing Farashaka to “Miss Cookie” asking her out on a date. Cookie accepts, and then has a flashback to when her dad wanted her to have more than just music and a guy like Lucious.
Cookie’s Big Night Out with Angelo | Empire season 3
For Cookie’s night out, she tries to find the perfect outfit for her night together with Angelo. Visibly nervous, Angelo takes her to a charity event with the upper class. But Cookie being Cookie didn’t let the mean girls who think they are better than her to get to her.
“I’ve summered in Connecticut too, at the Danbury Correctional Facility,” Cookie declares. Cookie catches the same ladies talking about her in the bathroom, and she drops another one liner on them…
“I’ve got a charity for you – Make a wish. Once I get done whopping both y’all ass, you’re going to wish you never met a hood rat like me.”
Angelo kept calling Cookie after she left the event. He also turns to Jamal for help and advice to getting back in Cookie’s good graces.
Jamal is also seeking for help from Angelo in getting Frida out of jail. This is because when he went to visit her again, he learned that his father had her beat up in prison.
The Contract: Signing Nessa
After Hakeem’s plan to sign Nessa on Empire’s live-stream didn’t go well, this revealed the price that Empire was willing to pay to all of the competitors. Andre decided to take a shot at reasoning with Nessa. He used the emotional approach, telling her about how he met her brother before he was killed. He also points out how much things they had in common, like being “good at math” He encourages her to take her contract into her own hands.
Andre’s plan works, with Nessa signing the contract. Shina, on the other hand, was not so willing. He barges into Lucious’ office and starts beating up Andre, he even pulls out a gun on him. As a result of this, Lucious hits Shine with his displayed Alex Rodriguez baseball bat, holding him at gunpoint until he signs the contract.
Choosing Me | Empire season 3
At Frida’s hearing, her lawyer, with Jamal’s support argues that she was having a psychotic episode when she shot at Jamal. As a result, Frida is released on bail. On Cookie’s end, she is inspired by the song she heard about being torn between two men at the charity event. She remixes the song for Tiana’s new revenge song. Tiana then performs a song with the lyrics “Nobody loves me like me.”
While Tiana was performing, Angelo points out to Cookie that both of them aren’t so different after all. But Lucious won’t let them be, he goes on to tell a story of how Cookie got her name, and also how he beat up her boyfriend when they were kids and would do the same now. It was also revealed that not only did Lucious have Frida beat up in prison; she was also in on the plan. This was done to make Jamal feel guilty and get her out.
Andre, Nessa and Erm..Rhonda?
Jamal continues to mix his pills with alcohol, while Shine is preparing a group with weapons to get revenge on Lucious and Andre. Nessa, on the other hand, is at Andre’s house, but he stops her immediately when they start to hook-up, which was because he still thinks about Rhonda. Rhonda’s ghost appears, and even encourages him to sleep with Nessa. Her ghost says.. “we’ll both do it.”
